Sinkhole Testing Delays
Some geotechnical testing companies are very fast, some are very slow, and some are in between. Other sections of the SinkTeam website discuss the aspects of the geotechnical testing process; this section talks about delays and how to overcome them.

Some sinkhole testing companies are large businesses grossing tens of millions of dollars every year from doing sinkhole tests. They employ potentially hundreds of people and have lots of testing equipment. Other testing companies are very small operations with just a few people. Clearly, a large operation with hundreds of people and lots of equipment that can investigate multiple claims at the same time is going to be faster than a “mom and pop” testing company that can only do one claim at a time.

Regardless of who the testing company is, however, it is unfair for a homeowner to wait unreasonable lengths of time to get their test results back. A general rule of thumb is that most sinkhole investigations should be completed within 90 to 120 days – about 3 or for months max. If your sinkhole investigation is taking longer, start asking why.

Many times testing companies get backed up and your results can be collecting dust in a pile – often a call from the insurance adjuster to the testing company can speed things up. Don’t be afraid to call and complain to your adjuster. Don’t be afraid to call the testing company yourself to ask for an update.
